ANNOUNCEMENT: On April 28, 2009, the Consulate General of Japan in San Francisco announced the recipients of the 2009 Spring Conferment of Decoration. Amongst them is Mr. Willard G. Clark, Founder of the Clark Center for Japanese Art and Culture and Member of CULCON, who receives the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon, for his accomplishments in introducing Japanese Art and promoting cultural and educational exchange between Japan and the United States of America.

In Dialogue with Nature: A Lecture and Demonstration of the Art, Crafts, and Material of Japanese Traditional Painting
by the Japanese Painter Kambe Tomoyuki

$10 for non members. Advance sign up required.

Kambe Tomoyuki (b.1975) currently resides in Boston with a grant from the Japan Cultural Agency. He graduated from Tama Art University in 2001 and has since been a member of the Tama Art University Laboratory. Paintings of Mr. Kambe consist of three layers creating structurally well-defined images on different levels like in reality.

Lethal Beauty: Samurai Weapons and Armors
Exhibition.

Gallery hours: Tuesday through Saturday 1 – 5 pm. Closed on national holidays and during the month of August.
General admission: $5 for adults, $3 for students with valid ID. Children 12 and under free.
Weekly docent tours are held Saturdays at 1 pm and guided group tours can be arranged by calling the Center in advance at (559) 582-4915.
