VOLUNTEERS

Join us as a member of the Clark Center Volunteer Council

Even though it seems tranquil from the outside there really is lots and lots going on behind the scenes at the Center! We welcome anyone who is interested in becoming a volunteer at the museum to give us a call at 559-582-4915.

Some of the Ways You Can Help

Docent/Gallery Facilitators
What a wonderful way to learn more about Japanese art and share it with others! Docent duties can include leading small groups into the museum gallery or assisting curators with large groups. Gallery assistants may also help with museum gift shop sales and answering questions about the exhibition, the history of the Lee Center, the grounds, and the gallery. For those interested in learning more about the art itself, additional training is available.

Library Assistants
To help make our research library more accessible to scholars and visitors, library assistants reshelve books in the library area, catalog and shelve new books, and research call numbers and title data through accessing electronic library collections.

General Office Tasks
For those talented in clerical matters, other areas of assistance could include typing letters, labeling, stamping, and stuffing envelopes for mailing, balancing gift shop sales records, and monitoring the inventory of gift shop merchandise.

* Special Events Assistance *

Spring Festival and Open House
For this fun-filled event, the Center could see up to 500 visitors in a single day. In order to keep all this activity organized, we rely on a dedicated group of volunteers to assist with setup, guest sign-in and registration, staffing of the information booth, directing parking, monitoring the gallery, assisting with sales and demonstrations, and helping with clean-up.

Annual Fall Gala
This fabulous fundraiser requires lots of work to run smoothly and it gets more and more elaborate every year! Volunteer duties can include assisting with planning and mailings ahead of time as well as setup, directing parking, guest sign-in, and cleanup.
